This week is NEDA (National Eating Disorders
Association) Awareness week. The theme is “Every Body Has A Seat At The Table”. As the week is coming to an end, I wanted to reflect on the week.
I participated in many activities this week that made it clear that anyone can have an eating disorder. Eating disorders do not discriminate. You can not tell if someone has an eating disorder by looking at them. All races, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, etc can have an eating disorder. We need to teach the community that being sensitive to comments that are being made about diets, weights, how a person looks, etc can be damaging to a person with an eatimg disorder and may not even be meant that way.
I did a Zoom discussion on the topic “hiding in plain sight”. Alot of us with eating disorders are hiding in plain sight and educating the community that everybody has a seat at the table and that people with eating disorders may
not be seem as someone with an eating disorder was very important. This is how we are going to Kick ED’s Butt.’❤️🐷❤️
