In November of 2022, I had weight loss surgery. This was 3 years after going to treatment for my eating disorder. I was still bingeing and gaining weight. I could barely walk the dog and my health was getting worse. I had to use an inhaler every time I walked a little bit.

I was told by the doctor who did my surgery that it would “fix” my issues with my eating disorder. He was so wrong. Yes, it had fixed many of my medical problems. I can walk and not get winded.

However, we know that eating disorders are mental illnesses. It did not fix the obsessive thoughts about food. The guilt and shame that is felt after I eat was still there. Seeing a therapist after weight loss surgery is so very important to continue to Kick Ed’s Butt. 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
